Smile is an alarming thriller movie that causes a filmgoer to contemplate the terrible consequences of a curse. The plot of the movie is based on the life of a psychologist named Dr. Rose Cotter, who becomes a witness to one of her patients ending life by jumping off a building and the begins to face some strange occurrences. What beholds Rose Cotter when investigation gets deeper is the revelation that the same pattern occurred to other victims before they developed hallucinations or met a violent death in the following week. 

 

 The end of the film presents curse as real giving a feeling of fear to the audience for a long time. Perceiving such terrible incidences passes the curse while on the other end, those infected notice apparitional visions leading them to commit suicide. Of course, equating dream and reality can be interpreted as anticlimax, although in Rose’s endeavor to escape the curse she faces the worst in herself and some deep unresolved things from the past. 

 

 Thus, Smile is a thought-provoking, horrifying experience for audiences, as members of the audience are introduced to the idea of the infection of human beings’ fear, mental illness, and trauma.
